Have finished watching th second season of Rome and it was tragic and beautiful and occasionally nasty and occasionally hilarious.
I have some minor complaints
the first one being the one that everyone else has; that they would have needed at least two more episodes to make the final power struggle between Octavian and Marc Anthony into a proper arc.
The other one is that I wish Gaia had been introduced in the first season as local brothel-keeper (clerk? What was she?) that used to banter with, and occasionally sleep with, Pullo. Because I think the parallels/differences between her and Eirene, as two women at the bottom of the social ladder who both try to survive and ultimately fail at it, could have been interesting if they hadn't turned Eirene into Tragic Little Princess and Gaia's introduction had been less clunky.
Also think I liked (to watch] Octavian II more than Octavian I, but it's a while since i saw season one so I may be wrong.
