...yeah, "Goblins Gold", I don't love you anymore ;-)

Spoilers for episode )

Other things that I've watched this week-end:

The Duchess: Moderately entertaining movie about how patriarchy really, really sucks. I found Bess - and her relationship both to Georgiana and to the duke, and the motives for her actions - much more interesting than anything else in it. Also, the costume people must have had a wonderful time.

The Boat That Rocked: When you fast-forward through it, it isn't half bad.

BtVS season one, "Angel": Between this and "Twilight" I think I might have something quasi-profound to say about Broody Vampire Boyfriends. I also think someone has said it before. Also, I like Darla much more than I remember doing before.
(And the Buffy/Merlin-crossovers I crave at the moment: Giles getting dropped into Camelot and kicking Uther's sorry arse. And Joyce and Arthur meeting up to discuss that vague feeling they have that Really Strange Things might be going on just behind their backs.)

New icon in honor of Swedish jazz singer/actress Monica Zetterlund, who tragically died in an apartment fire yesterday.

Because I'm insane Because they were on sale, and I just sold two book reviews (go me), I bought Angel season 2-5. I'll try to watch them in order, but I did take a sneak peak on Destiny. (Because it has Druuuuu. In underwear. Among other things.) Anyway, the insane translator apparently stuck again, because every time anyone said that Spike was "corporeal" the subtitles said "human". Which is a rather big plot point that he isn't. Does the people who translate this kind of thing just do it sentence for sentence or do they ever go back and check if their translations make sense?
Watched the first disc of S2, and Angel is so my boy, even when he is a moron. And while I miss Kate, I really like Gunn. Like Cordy and Wes more and more, too.

Also rented the first disc of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Who hired Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner? Occasionally, it seems like they can...act. (Also, Encounter at Farpoint would have been a more interesting story if Q hadn't come across as an annoying bully from start to end.

1. With all the weird uncanonical pairings that are out there, there is one I've never even seen mentioned: Drusilla/PuppetAngel. And that really should be written - preferably with her recreating the bondage/torture-scene from "What's my line".

2. Post NFA, I want Buffy to accidentally run into Lorne and stop him from committing suicide or get lost in self-pity and despair some other way. And then they bond and he moves in with her and makes hot cocoa and waffles when she needs it and takes her shopping on her birthday. Cause Buffy deserves a new mommy, dammit.

Kanal 5 has finally started showing seaon 5 of Buffy, and today it was time for "Fool for love". And during the "mineshaft in Yorkshire"-scene, the Evil Translator of Doom struck back. First, "mate" was translated to "kamrat". Which isn’t technically wrong, but my associations go to "comrade" as in "fellow communist", and I doubt that Spike embraced Marxism at the same time as vampyrism. (Funny as that thought may be.) Far worse was that "the king of cups" was translated as "snutkungen" which means "the king of cops". Wrong, utterly meaningless and something Dru never would have said, even if it was correct.

Other observations... )
